In Brief
The most important part of a revision consultation is clarifying what bothers you. Sometimes the problem is a visible irregularity; sometimes difficulty breathing; sometimes the nose simply looks out of harmony with the face. Details of the previous operation, your old photos and today’s examination findings are evaluated together to set a realistic goal.
Some situations can be solved with a small touch-up; for example, a small bump on the nasal bridge can be removed quickly under local anesthesia. However, if there is a serious loss of support in the nasal framework, the structure needs to be rebuilt. In this case the nose’s own cartilage may not be enough; cartilage taken from behind the ear or from the rib provides strong and natural support.
After the first operation, it takes about a year for the tissues to soften and the swelling to resolve completely. Assessments made before this time can be misleading. Except in cases such as a serious breathing problem, it is recommended to wait at least 12 months for a revision.
Assessment
The need is determined from previous surgery information, photos and an internal nasal examination.
Planning
The amount and source of cartilage needed, the scar location and the target shape are discussed.
Surgery
Scar tissue is carefully separated, supports are placed and the nose is reshaped.
Recovery
Return to social life within the first two weeks; the final result settles in 12–18 months.
A Surgeon’s View
In revision surgery, the goal should be “significant improvement”, not “perfect symmetry”. Previously operated tissues have their limits; realistic expectations are the most important key to satisfaction.

Contact UsThe pain is similar. If rib cartilage is used, there may be additional tenderness in the chest area for a few days.
Technically there is no limit; however, each operation tires the tissue a little more. That is why it is important to plan the revision comprehensively the first time.
Small hollows and mild asymmetries can be camouflaged with filler once healing is complete.
Reports from the previous operation and your before-and-after photos, if available, make the assessment easier.
