In Brief

  • The most commonly used filler is hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body.
  • These fillers can be dissolved with a special enzyme if needed.
  • A good plan focuses not on the line but on its cause.

Think About the Cause, Not the Line

A deep line at the corner of the mouth is often the result not of that area but of volume loss in the cheek. A little support in the cheekbone area can soften the line below on its own. That is why, with facial fillers, the overall structure of the face is assessed first, and then it is decided how much support each area needs.

Areas

  • Upper face: Temples, forehead, between the brows
  • Midface: Under-eyes, cheekbones, cheeks, nose
  • Lower face: Lips, mouth corners, smile lines, chin, jawline

Products of different densities are used for each area: softer fillers for the lips and firmer fillers for the cheekbones and chin.

Filler or Muscle Relaxant?

A simple rule: if a line appears only with movement, a muscle relaxant is more suitable; if it is visible at rest or there is volume loss, filler is more suitable. For many people, using both methods together gives the most balanced result.

Safety

The face is an area dense with important blood vessels. The rare but serious complications of fillers are related to vascular occlusion. For this reason, treatment should be performed with approved products by a physician who knows the anatomy and can intervene immediately in case of a complication.

Step by Step

1

Analysis

Your face is examined from different angles and in different lighting.

2

Plan

Priority areas and amounts are determined.

3

Application

Filler is given gradually with a fine needle or blunt-tip cannula.

4

Follow-up

The result is evaluated after two weeks, with a touch-up if needed.

A Surgeon’s View

Dividing the need across several sessions gives a much more natural and controlled result than injecting a lot of filler in a single session.
