In Brief

  • It combines microneedling and radiofrequency energy in a single treatment.
  • Energy is delivered to the targeted depth while the skin surface is protected.
  • It supports tightening by stimulating collagen and elastin production.

What Is Gold Needle?

Gold needle is also known as fractional radiofrequency microneedling. After fine, gold-plated and insulated needles enter the skin, radiofrequency energy is delivered through the needle tips to the deeper layers. The controlled micro-injury and heat that result trigger the skin’s own repair process and stimulate new collagen and elastin production.

Areas of Use

  • Skin laxity and mild sagging
  • Acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks (striae)
  • Tightening of the neck and double chin

How It Differs from Classic Microneedling

Classic microneedling (dermapen) only creates mechanical micro-channels. Gold needle adds the heating effect of radiofrequency to these channels, targeting more noticeable renewal in deeper layers. The insulated needle design helps concentrate the energy at the target depth rather than on the skin surface.

Step by Step

1

Assessment

Skin structure, degree of laxity and expectations are assessed by the physician.

2

Preparation

A numbing cream is applied and left on for 30–45 minutes.

3

Application

The treatment is performed with the needle depth and energy level adjusted to the area.

4

Recovery

Redness and mild swelling may last 1–3 days; the area is protected from the sun.

A Surgeon’s View

Collagen production takes time; noticeable change after gold needle usually appears gradually within 1–3 months. It may not be sufficient on its own for advanced sagging; in that case an assessment together with surgical options is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

After numbing cream, most people find the procedure tolerable; mild aching may be felt in areas close to bone.

Usually 2–4 sessions 4–6 weeks apart are planned; the number varies with skin condition.

The needle marks disappear within a few days. When aftercare advice is followed, the risk of permanent marks is low.

It is not performed, or is postponed, in pregnant women, people with a pacemaker, those with an active infection or open wound in the treatment area, and those prone to keloids.

The skin may look more vibrant in the first weeks; the tightening effect becomes evident within 1–3 months as collagen renews.
