In Brief
Focusing on a single area in leg aesthetics often leads to a disproportionate result. For example, if the outer hips are slimmed while the inner thighs and inner knees are ignored, the leg line may look broken. That is why planning is done by assessing the whole leg, from the hip to the ankle.
Stubborn fat in the outer hips, inner thighs, inner knees and sometimes the calves is removed with fine cannulas. Because the skin in these areas is thin, careful and balanced liposuction is very important to avoid surface rippling.
With significant weight loss or aging, the skin of the inner thigh can loosen and wrinkle. In this case the excess skin needs to be removed. If the sagging is limited to the upper part, the scar is hidden in the groin crease; with more extensive sagging, the scar may run along the inner thigh.
These two problems cannot be completely corrected with surgery; however, their appearance can be reduced with skin renewal treatments. In lift operations, stretch marks on the removed skin are taken away together with the skin.
Surgery
Fat is removed from the planned areas and, if necessary, excess skin is excised.
First week
A compression garment is worn and circulation is supported with walking.
Week 2
Return to work is earlier after liposuction and around this time after a lift.
Months 3 – 6
Swelling resolves and the leg contours become clear.
A Surgeon’s View
In the legs, swelling resolves later than in other parts of the body. Wearing the compression garment regularly for the recommended period directly affects the final result.

In the groin crease or on the inner thigh, in areas covered by underwear.
Removed fat cells do not come back; the result is permanent as long as your weight is maintained.
You are encouraged to start short walks on the day of surgery or the next day.
